1. Heart Failure (HF)

• Study of structural and functional vascular indices in patients with HF
• Study of the epidemiology, natural history and prognosis of various phenotypes and causes of HF
• Study of current therapeutic approaches of arrhythmias and valvular heart disease (percutaneous interventions) in HF patients

2. Imaging in Cardiology

• Echocardiography: study of left ventricular diastolic function in relation to the coronary microcirculation in patients with hypertension, chronic kidney disease, (peritoneal) dialysis, and renal transplantation
• Invasive imaging methods. Characterization of atheromatous plaque for the diagnosis of vulnerable plaque and construction of algorithms that allow automatic characterization of atheromatous plaques using invasive imaging methods and novel methods of image processing
• Hybrid imaging in the Catheterization Laboratory using a combination of invasive imaging methods such as angiography, intravascular ultrasound, and optical coherence tomography, for the study of pathophysiology of atherosclerosis (development of atheromatous plaque and restenosis), especially in relation to the effect offlow and shear stress on atherosclerosis

3. Atheromatosis

• Early diagnosis using non-invasive methods in patients with diabetes mellitus and children with risk factors (obesity, autoimmune diseases)
• Study of the role of classical and novel risk factors (vascular indices of subclinical atherosclerosis, novel biomarkers, genetic polymorphisms) on the development and and progression of coronary artery disease
