Purpose of the course: The aim of this course is to familiarize the medical students and doctors of tomorrow with the basic principles of medical statistics and mathematics as well as the statistical terminology and methodology applied and presented in modern medical literature (books, magazines, internet, etc.) with a view to reading the review.

Content of Course: Distinction variables, combinatorics and probability theory, continuous and categorical distributions and their properties, linear systems and chaos, descriptive statistics and measurements in medicine, simple comparisons of continuous variables, simple comparisons for discrete / qualitative metavites, correlation and linear regression, Logistic regression, survival analysis, statistical analysis of diagnostic tests

Form and teaching outcomes: After completion of the course we expect students to:

  1. Could calculate probabilities
  2. Might describe a variable using appropriate measures position and dispersion
  3. Be able to recognize the distribution of a physical quantity
  4. Becoming aware of what is the appropriate statistical test for each data type and condition are implemented
  5. Know what is the power of a statistical test and what depends
  6. Be able to interpret a p-value
  7. Be able to calculate and interpret a 95% confidence interval for average, average difference, hazard ratio and aspect ratio
  8. Be able to interpret the results of a regression
  9. Be able to interpret a coefficient of correlation
