Objective: This course will establish the basic knowledge and the skills for the student to understand the physiology and dysfunction of the Reproductive System in humans in order to investigate subfertility.

Course content: Anatomy of female reproductive system, Physiology of reproduction, Oocyte cycle, Steroidogenesis, Female infertility, Male infertility, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, Endomitriosis, Adenomyosis, Hydrosalpinx and infertility. Laboratory aspects of Assisted Reproductive Techniques. Gamete handling. Preimplantation embryonic development. Genetic investigation. Ovulation induction. Preservation fertility in cancer. Ovulation induction and cancer. Premature ovarian failure: Investigation and treatment. Menopause and aging. Implantation failure. Pregnancy loss in assisted reproduction.

Methods and teaching outcomes: This course provides teaching in combination with reviewing of cases with subfertility. The student will be able to understand the investigation, diagnosis and treatment of subfertility, to establish etiology and suggest options for fertility treatment.
