Purpose: The introduction of the students in the biomechanics, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of sports injuries.

Program:

  1. Acute and chronic injuries of Tendons and Muscles. Biomechanics of the Musculosceletal system. Ultra sound and MRI of muscles and tendons.
  2. Ligament injuries of the knee joint. Anterior Cruciate injury. Meniscal lesions. Patella Dislocation. Arthroscopic surgery of the knee.Motion Analysis after ligament injury and treatment.
  3. Acute and chronic injuries of the hand and ellbow. Prevention in sports. Tapping and braces of the upper extremity.
  4. Groin pain, injuries around the hip. Acetabulo-femoral impingement. Distorsion of the ankle. arthroscopy of hip and ankle. Dynamometer. Proprioception of the lower extremity.
  5. Shoulder dislocation, injuries of the rotator cuff. MRI and arthroscopy of the shoulder.
  6. Introduction in the Ergophysiology of Exercise. Diet, Dopping control. The fatigue as a factor to injuries.
  7. Sports Injuries of the spine. Ergonomy of exercise and chronic injury prevention in gym.
  8. Physiotherapy and comming back to sports after injury and surgery
  9. Arthroscopy Lab
  10. Participation in Arthroscopic Surgeries
  11. Participation as Sports team Physician assistend

Writing and presentation of a topic as agroup.

Form and outcomes of instruction: The course is taught in conjunction with internships in small group of students. The final level of knowledge allows them to diagnose and treat basic injuries in athletes.
