Clinical Research
Translational, Preclinical and Clinical Research is the process of applying Basic Research discoveries to identify new biomarkers for diseases and treatments and with the aim of introducing them into the daily clinical practice.
It is a key tool for:
- monitoring the progression of various diseases,
- designing and developing new pharmaceutical products,
- improving the healthcare provided and
- promoting the quality of life of the population.
Translating the findings of Basic Research to Clinical practice is an extremely dynamic but also time-consuming process, since it is estimated that the average time for the approval of a new drug is 10-15 years from the initial idea and experimental observations.
