Museum of the History of Medicine
The Museum of the History of Medicine of the University of Ioannina was founded at the University of Ioannina in 1995. Since its establishment, it has been tirelessly collecting artifacts related to the History of Medicine, exceeding presently the number of 20,000 objects, which are displayed at the 12 different areas of the museum.
The Museum’s collection exhibits significant medical artifacts from antiquity, including among others Dioskourian illustrations of pharmaceutical plants and herbs used at modern times, a small chapel with icons of 65 male doctors and 12 male doctors who obtained sainthood, coins, banknotes, medical comic strips and, most notably, a full collection of 450 Greek stamps on medical topics.

Animal Lab
The Animal Laboratory of the Department of Medicine has been operating since 1982, and covers the educational and research needs of the University of Ioannina. The funding of a series of projects either by the University of Ioannina itself or by European Development Programs (STRIDE-Hellas), has allowed the creation of conditions capable of ensuring the proper living of laboratory animals.
The laboratory has a license to operate a facility for breeding (EL33-BIObr01), supplying (EL33-BIOsup01) and experimentation (EL33BIO-exp01) animals for scientific purposes.
