Welcome to our Faculty of Medicine

The Medical School was founded in 1977. During its 45 years of operation provides extremely high-level education for students and produces very important research and clinical activity, which today have established the department in Greece and abroad.

The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ioannina consistently holds a high position in international evaluations and has numerous international collaborations with recognized institutions around the world while implementing a large number of research programs and clinical studies.

Today, 1337 undergraduate students (1st cycle) and 922 2nd and 3rd cycle postgraduate students study at the School. It has 42 clinics and laboratories, 130 Professors (Faculty), 30 members of special teaching, special laboratory and special laboratory technical staff , 26 post-doctoral researchers (Post Doc) and 10 administrative employees. The members of the scientific community of the Department have internationally recognized research activity and excellent scientific training, providing high-level health services. The building infrastructure of the Campus is located next to the well-equipped University Hospital of Ioannina, which is the largest in Northwest Greece.

The aim of the Faculty of Medicine is to continue its work, educating in a dynamic environment people who will advance Medical Science and develop and cultivate their skills, critical ability and synthetic thinking. Also, a perennial goal remains to continue and expand international collaborations and mobility, on the one hand at the level of students with exchanges within the framework of Erasmus programs, and on the other hand between teaching staff and research collaborations.
